This project was commissioned by my one of my fathers existing bespoke furniture clients. I was asked to design a garden accommodation cabin for the occupants to live in for the duration of their house renovation and occasional short-term accommodation thereafter.

Design and Build of Garden Accommodation

Construction

Timber frame construction was deemed the most suitable method. Walls were clad externally with Buffalo Board, and internally with birch plywood to achieve the scandinavian style that the client requested. The structural design included carefully positioned apertures for fenestration.

Liasing with the Client

There were multiple site visits made during the initial design phase. Initially to gain an understanding of the site, and then to meet with the client to finalise the floor plan. Following this stage, meetings were had discussing materials and finishes.

External Finishes

Canadian Cedar was specified to clad the exterior of the cabin to maintain a sleek unobtrusive look. Fenestration and external light fittings were finished in matching anthracite grey.
